For the third year, Montrose gathers to honor the life and legacy of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. — not as a distant historical figure, but as a teacher whose words still speak to our rural community, our families, and our shared future.
What began as a single Monday event has grown into a full weekend of arts, dialogue, service, and celebration. Three days. One purpose: to bring neighbors together across every background and belief, and to carry Dr. King's dream forward in the place we call home.

Awaken
Arts, Youth & Awareness
A day for families and children — opening ceremony, youth art studio, heritage fashion show, live performances, an awareness fair, and a community film night.

A day for conversation and connection — a Lincoln-Douglas style debate, a community panel, a faith and civic dinner, and small-group listening sessions.

A day for action — community-wide service projects, a unity walk through downtown, and an evening celebration with awards, music, and reflection.

The MLK Montrose Weekend unites our rural community across every background, belief, and generation to honor Dr. King's legacy of justice, dignity, and service. Through education, the arts, dialogue, and shared action, we celebrate what brings us together and empower every resident to help build the Beloved Community — right here at home.
